The 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is being commemorated as a national initiative to honour his martyrdom in defence of religious freedom and human dignity. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom in 1675 stands as a defining moment in history, symbolising moral courage, tolerance, and the protection of the rights of all faiths. His supreme martyrdom, along with that of Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji and Bhai Dayala Ji, remains a timeless testament to the values of pluralism and righteousness.
To mark the 350th anniversary of this historic martyrdom, the Government of India is observing a year-long commemoration from 24 November 2025 to 24 November 2026, aimed at inspiring citizens, particularly youth and students, to reflect upon and imbibe these enduring values. As part of the national observance, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the inaugural programme held in Haryana on 25 November 2025, during which a commemorative coin and special postage stamp were released, underscoring the nation’s collective resolve to preserve and propagate this legacy for future generations.
