150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda Commemorated in Odisha by Ministry of Culture and OSEP

The Organisation for Social & Economic Progression (OSEP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, commemorated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda with a two-day celebration held on 9-10 October 2025 at Kunjara Melana Padia, Pipili, Puri, Odisha. The event paid homage to the legendary tribal freedom fighter and social reformer whose leadership of the Ulgulan movement epitomised resistance against colonial oppression and the steadfast protection of tribal rights, land, and cultural heritage.

The celebrations encompassed keynote addresses, cultural performances, and community gatherings, drawing over 2,000 participants, including students, educators, and social activists. Eminent dignitaries highlighted Birsa Munda’s enduring legacy in championing self-governance, environmental stewardship, and social justice. Through this initiative, OSEP and the Ministry of Culture reinforced the values of unity, sustainability, and pride in India’s tribal heritage, inspiring the younger generation to embrace his ideals and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
