A two-day programme marking the “Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Constitution of India” was organised on 21-22 November at B. Borooah College, Guwahati. The event was conducted by Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ) in association with the college and in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
The inaugural session began with the Assam State Anthem, followed by the felicitation of guests. The session was presided over by President, BJVJ Assam, Prof. S.K. Borthakur, with participation from Principal, B. Borooah College, Dr. Satyendra Kumar Barman, Secretary, BJVJ Assam, Dr. Manoj Kumar Patowary, and Principal, J.B. Law College, Guwahati, Mr. Jakey Khan as the Guest Speaker. Speakers underscored the relevance of constitutional literacy, particularly for students.
Across two days, the programme featured a range of academic and creative activities. The first day included an essay writing competition in two categories, an open quiz, and a collage-making activity on the theme “Constitution Through Time.” The second day included a lecture on constitutional amendments by Dr. Rishov Jyoti Borah, Assistant Professor, J.B. Law College, followed by a speech competition, an open art and drawing competition on “Indian Constitution,” and an exhibition of student collages and artwork.
The event concluded with cultural performances, prize distribution and a valedictory session. Programme Coordinator, BJVJ Assam, Dr. Trigunaranjan Sharma, delivered the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the contributions of speakers, dignitaries, judges, students and volunteers. The two-day programme effectively promoted constitutional awareness and encouraged active engagement with India’s democratic principles among young participants.
