Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture & Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, presided over the closing ceremony of the national commemoration of 75 years of the Adoption of the Constitution of India, organised under the campaign “Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman” at IGNCA, New Delhi on 26 November. Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Shri Vivek Aggarwal, and Member Secretary, IGNCA, Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi were also present on the occasion. Professor (Dr.) Alka Chawla from the Law Centre, University of Delhi, and Professor (Dr.) Sudhir Lall of Kalakosa, IGNCA were also in attendance.
Shri Shekhawat inaugurated two special exhibitions- “Neev: Bharatiya Samvidhan ki Mahila Shilpi”, highlighting the role of women contributors to the Constitution, and “Making of the Constitution of India - Commemorating 75 Years of Adoption”, which displayed archival documents, rare photographs, and panels tracing the Constitution-making process.
The ceremony began with the collective singing of “Vande Mataram”, followed by cultural performances, a commemorative film on 75 years of the Constitution, and a short feature on the art and calligraphy of the original document. Officials and scholars reflected on India’s civilisational ethos, constitutional values, and the enduring relevance of the Constitution.
In his address, Shri Shekhawat reaffirmed that the Constitution forms the foundation of India’s democratic and social framework, guiding national progress through pivotal moments in history. He called upon the youth to uphold constitutional values and participate actively in strengthening democracy. The event marked the formal culmination of the nationwide commemoration, reinforcing the campaign’s aim of deepening constitutional awareness and pride among citizens.
