As part of the nationwide year-long observance of the 350th Martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, organised a commemorative programme on 4 July 2026 at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Daltonganj, Jharkhand.
The programme commenced with the rendition of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem. Shri Inder Singh Namdhari, former Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp and subsequently inaugurated an exhibition depicting the life, teachings and legacy of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
A seminar on the life and contributions of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji followed, featuring distinguished speakers including Shri Inder Singh Namdhari, Shri Satbir Singh Raja, Dr Mohini Gupta, Gyani Sundar Singh and Shri Yodh Singh Namdhari. The speakers reflected upon the Guru’s unparalleled sacrifice in defence of religious freedom and human dignity, while highlighting the enduring relevance of his message of courage, compassion, harmony and national unity.
The programme also featured a Shabad Kirtan presented by Shri Kishor Shukla, Shri Ram Kishor Pandey, Ms Priti Kumari, Gyani Sundar Singh and students of Dashmesh Model School. The devotional presentation witnessed enthusiastic participation from devotees and members of the local community.
The commemorative programme forms part of the Ministry of Culture’s nationwide series of events being organised throughout the year to observe the 350th Martyrdom Year of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Through these initiatives, the Ministry seeks to disseminate the Guru Sahib’s timeless message of selfless service, religious freedom, courage and national unity, while inspiring younger generations to uphold these enduring values.
