IGNCA and Government of Gujarat Host Cultural Event at Gir Somnath under the Somnath Swabhiman Parv

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, in association with the Government of Gujarat, organised a two-day cultural event on 14 & 15 February at Gir Somnath, near the historic Somnath Temple. The programme was part of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv 2026, highlighting India’s rich civilisational legacy through artistic expression, cultural dialogue, and community participation, bringing together artists, scholars, and visitors from across the country.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, graced the event and witnessed the vibrant cultural presentations. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of attendees and served as a platform to promote cultural awareness, encourage appreciation of India’s shared heritage, and reinforce collaborative efforts between cultural institutions and the state in preserving and showcasing the nation’s cultural and artistic traditions.

The event featured a series of cultural presentations celebrating India’s diverse artistic traditions. Padma Shri awardee renowned singer Shri Kailash Kher delivered a soulful musical performance that resonated deeply with the audience. Traditional performances, musical showcases, and cultural programmes created an engaging atmosphere, reflecting the continuity of living heritage and the role of art in strengthening cultural identity.
