A four-day commemorative event marking the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised from 24 to 27 December in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, by Bhagwan Buddh Smarak Samiti, Kushinagar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.

The programme commenced on 24 December at Srinath Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Kushinagar, with floral tributes to Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the lighting of the ceremonial lamp accompanied by Sanskrit shlokas, and a welcome song. Invited speakers addressed the gathering and highlighted key episodes and guiding principles from Shri Vajpayee’s life. Speeches, addresses, and lok geet (folk songs) formed part of the inaugural day’s activities.

The second day featured addresses reflecting on the life and legacy of the former Prime Minister, along with a cultural dance performance and a skit based on Shri Vajpayee’s life, led by Shri Radhashyam Gupt. An essay competition and folk song performances were also organised.

On the third day, speakers reflected on Shri Vajpayee’s political philosophy as well as his literary and poetic contributions. A photo and video gallery showcasing moments from his life was a key highlight, followed by dance, theatre, and singing performances.

The concluding day included addresses that explored the philosophy and ideals upheld by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, encouraging the younger generation to draw inspiration from his life and work. Participants in the essay, drawing, and cultural activities were awarded certificates and mementoes. The commemorative event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and members of the local community.
