A four-day commemorative event marking the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar was organised from 11 to 14 December by Bindheshwari Gramothan Sansthan, Amethi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
Hosted at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, the event brought together scholars, invited dignitaries, students, and members of the general public for a sustained dialogue on the life and legacy of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar.
The commemorative event commenced on 11 December with floral tributes and Ganesh Vandana. Over the four days, scholars presented various aspects of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar’s life and contributions. Two theatrical productions- Kashi Ki Ahilya and Contribution of Mata Holkar in the Cultural Heritage of Varanasi-were key highlights, portraying significant chapters from her life in a vivid and realistic manner.
An essay competition on the theme Life Journey of Mata Ahilyabai was also organised, with participation from over 230 students. Cultural dance performances formed part of the programme as well.
The event concluded with the felicitation of performers, competition winners, and participants with certificates, cash prizes, and mementoes.
