A four-day commemorative programme marking the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was organised from 5 to 8 February 2026 in Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh, by the Devendra Nath Social and Educational Service Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The programme formed part of the ongoing nationwide commemoration of Dr. Mookerjee’s birth anniversary, which was inaugurated in New Delhi on 9 July 2025.
The programme, held primarily at Lohia Kala Bhavan and Ambedkar Auditorium, featured a series of academic, cultural, and outreach activities aimed at highlighting the life and contributions of Dr. Mookerjee. Key components included seminars on national integration, a ‘Social Harmony Rally,’ cultural performances, essay competitions, and a Kavi Sammelan. These activities focused on Dr. Mookerjee’s role as a visionary leader and his contributions to India’s political, cultural, educational, and industrial development, while also encouraging youth engagement with his ideas and legacy.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of teachers, social workers, and students, reflecting continued public engagement with Dr. Mookerjee’s contributions. The programme concluded with an award distribution ceremony for competition winners, reinforcing the commemorative focus on his vision of national unity.
