Ministry of Culture and Dharmasthala Samskruthika Kala Thanda Commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

A day-long commemorative programme marking the 150th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was organised on 9 November in Karnataka by Dharmasthala Samskruthika Kala Thanda, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. The programme was held at Sri Balaji Convention Hall, Sidlaghatta, and witnessed participation from dignitaries and representatives of various organisations.

The commemoration focused on key milestones from the life of Sardar Patel and his seminal contribution to India’s freedom movement and national integration. The programme was structured around birth anniversary observances and a public Unity March Rally aimed at promoting the values associated with the Iron Man of India.

The event commenced with the offering of floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Speakers and invited guests highlighted his leadership during the freedom struggle and his decisive role in the integration of princely states, which laid the foundation for a unified India. Discussions emphasised Sardar Patel’s legacy of national unity, administrative strength, and commitment to democratic governance.

As part of the commemoration, a public rally titled the Sardar@150 Unity March was organised, covering a distance of approximately 4.5 kilometres from Sri Vasavi Vidyaniketan to Townhall Circle, Chickballapura. The Unity March sought to inspire a sense of patriotism, social harmony, and civic responsibility among citizens, particularly the youth.

The programme was aligned with the broader national vision of Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The commemorative event concluded with active participation from the public, with approximately 950 people taking part across the programme and rally.
