A three-day commemorative programme marking the 150th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was organised from 29 to 31 January 2026 in Cuttack, Odisha, by the Federation for Organising Community Upliftment Service (FOCUS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The commemoration, held under the theme “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” highlighted Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in national integration and unity.
The programme commenced on 29 January at JKBK College with a series of student-centric activities, including drawing, essay, and debate competitions, which saw participation from over 320 students. The day concluded with traditional folk performances by local artists, drawing an audience of over 1,000 attendees. On 30 January, a Yoga and Unity session was organised at the OSAP 6th Battalion campus, with participation from nearly 500 individuals, reinforcing the message of collective harmony and national unity.
On the concluding day, a ‘Run for Unity’ marathon was organised from Barabati Stadium to Sarala Bhawan, with participation from more than 300 youth, paying tribute to the legacy of Sardar Patel. The day also featured a photo exhibition showcasing around 300 historical images and the release of a biographical booklet on Sardar Patel.
The commemorative programme concluded with a valedictory session on 31 January, during which prizes were distributed to 268 participants of various competitions. The event witnessed wide public participation and served as a platform to engage youth and the wider community with the ideals of unity, integrity, and nation-building associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
