A three-day commemorative programme was organised by Gramin Vikas Sansthan, Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, from 25 to 27 February 2026, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The programme was held at Dr Jaydev Singh Adarsh Inter College, Salpur Bazar, Gonda, with active participation from scholars, local representatives and members of the public.
The programme featured discussions on Dr Mookerjee’s contributions to nationalism, education and public life. Speakers highlighted his role in shaping India’s political and intellectual discourse and underlined the continued relevance of his ideals in contemporary nation-building, particularly for the youth.
Cultural presentations, including street plays, were organised to promote social awareness and to showcase the legacy of Dr Mookerjee. The concluding day featured a poetry conference with participation from poets from various districts.
The event formed part of the Government of India’s wider year-long commemoration initiative aimed at disseminating the ideals and contributions of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee among youth through seminars, cultural activities and outreach programmes across the country, while promoting informed civic participation.
