Ministry of Culture and Gramoday Shiksha Sansthan Commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda

A two-day programme commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda was organised on 14-15 November by Gramoday Shiksha Sansthan, Prayagraj, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, at Prayagraj and Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. The programme was conducted under the Ministry of Culture’s commemorative framework to promote awareness about tribal icons and their contribution to the freedom struggle.

As part of the commemorative activities, an essay competition was held on 14 November 2025 at PM Shri Rajkiye Inter College, Mirzapur. A total of 382 students participated, reflecting on the life, legacy and contribution of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The activity aimed at generating awareness among students about tribal history and the role of tribal leaders in India’s freedom movement.

On 15 November, a cultural programme was organised to mark the birth anniversary. The event was attended by Principal, PM Shri Rajkiye Inter College, Mirzapur, Shri Rajkumar Dixit, as Chief Guest along with other dignitaries. The cultural programme featured student performances and activities highlighting the ideals, struggles and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. 

The commemoration concluded with active participation from students, educators, cultural contributors and members of the local community, marking a successful observance of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda in the region.
