Ministry of Culture and Janta Vikas Manch Organise Two-Day Commemoration of Birsa Munda’s 150th Birth Anniversary in Palamu

A two-day programme commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda was held on 8-9 November at Stronnat Uchch Vidyalaya, Kharagpur, Hariharganj, Palamu, Jharkhand. The event was organised by Janta Vikas Manch in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and featured cultural, educational and awareness activities highlighting Birsa Munda’s legacy.

The inaugural session was attended by Former MP Shri Brajmohan Ram, Former MLA Shri Kushwaha Shivpujan Mehta, Mukhiya Shri Saroj Kushwaha, Panchayat Samiti Member Shri Hiralal Yadav, and District Council Member Smt. Asha Kumari. The day included folk music, addresses by organisational representatives, felicitation of participants, and speeches by educators including Principal Shri Haridwar Prasad Singh, Shri Rajkumar Ram, Shri Amit Kumar, Smt. Anju Thakur and Smt. Premlata Kumari. Cultural and theatre performances and a prize distribution ceremony followed.

Day two began with a brief morning ceremony, followed by folk music and dance performances. Students took part in essay writing on Birsa Munda’s life, quiz competitions and stage presentations. A dedicated speech session for teachers, principals and community intellectuals was held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM before the concluding prize distribution.

Around 500 attendees, including students, teachers and community members, participated in the activities. The event closed with a formal vote of thanks.
