A three-day commemorative event marking the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised from 23 to 25 December in Maharashtra by Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
Held at SPK College Hall, Sawantwadi, Sindhudurg, the programme paid tribute to Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and reflected on his contributions to nation-building, his commitment to nationalism and democratic values, and his literary legacy. The event also aimed to encourage leadership and civic awareness among students and the younger generation.
The inaugural day focused on environmental awareness and public participation activities. A tree plantation drive was conducted on the campus with the participation of students, faculty members, volunteers, and local citizens. This was followed by a cycle rally involving 120 participants to promote eco-friendliness, sustainability, and nationalism in the local area.
The second day featured the collective recitation of the national song Vande Mataram, slogan recitations, and a poets’ conference (kavi sammelan) centred on themes of nationalism, unity, and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s contribution to Hindi literature.
The concluding day was marked by cultural and creative competitions, with participation from over 200 students. Cultural dance performances, along with drawing, elocution, and fancy-dress competitions, were organised to encourage cultural pride and creative expression among students.
