Ministry of Culture and Manav Utkarsha Foundation Organise Commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Manav Utkarsha Foundation, organised a four-day commemorative programme in New Delhi to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The programme was held from 10 to 13 January 2026 as part of the nationwide commemoration. The initiative aimed to promote awareness among youth and the wider community about the ideals of national unity, leadership and patriotism associated with Sardar Patel.

The inaugural session was held at the Kamal Public School Auditorium, Vikaspuri, New Delhi, and commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting and floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries, educators, students and community representatives. Speakers on the occasion highlighted Sardar Patel’s significant contributions to India’s freedom movement and his role in the integration of princely states after independence.

The second day of the programme featured cultural and educational competitions for school students from across Delhi. Activities included the rendition of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, speech and essay writing competitions, nukkad natak performances, yoga demonstrations and group dance presentations. More than 60 students participated in these activities, reflecting on themes of national unity and leadership inspired by Sardar Patel’s life and legacy.

The third day’s events were held at the Pioneer Kamal Convent School Auditorium, Vikas Nagar, New Delhi. The programme began with Saraswati Vandana and the felicitation of invited guests, followed by cultural performances by students. Winners of the competitions were honoured with certificates, trophies and cash prizes. Speakers on the occasion encouraged students to draw inspiration from the life and ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The commemorative programme concluded on 13 January 2026 with a Unity March organised as part of the nationwide Sardar@150 celebrations, a two-year initiative commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The rally commenced from the Karun Drishti Care Foundation Office on Pankha Road and proceeded through Vashisht Park, Mohan Nagar Main, Sagarpur Nalapar Basti and Gandhi Market before concluding at the starting point. The march witnessed participation from around 300 citizens, including students, women and local residents, reinforcing the message of national unity and collective remembrance of Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy.
