Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Manava Vikas Seva Samithi, organised a two-day commemorative programme from 10 to 11 January 2026 in CB Pura district, Karnataka, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about the life, contributions, and legacy of Dr. Mookerjee. A series of activities, including cultural performances and a public awareness initiative, were organised as part of the commemoration.
A large procession was carried out through the main roads of Gudibande town, from Gudibande Bus Station to Maruthi Circle Bus Stop, witnessing participation from residents of Gudibande and neighbouring taluks. Speakers on the occasion highlighted Dr. Mookerjee’s role in national integration and his contributions to the nation.
The programme also featured a performance of Dollu Kunitha, a traditional folk dance of Karnataka. As part of a community outreach initiative, 610 helmets were distributed among rural residents, promoting road safety awareness alongside the commemorative activities.
