Ministry of Culture and Manjula Cultural Trust Organise Five-Day Commemoration of Lokmata Ahilya Bai Holkar’s 300th Birth Anniversary

A five-day programme commemorating the 300th Birth Anniversary of Ahilya Bai Holkar was organised from 13-17 November by Manjula Cultural Trust, Tirupati, with support from the Ministry of Culture. Activities were conducted across A.P. Tribal Welfare Residential School (Girls), Z.P.H. School Thummalagunta, Silparamam Tiruchanur and Bharadwaj Music & Education Academy. A total of 530 students, 45 artists and representatives from NGOs and community-based organisations participated.

The programme opened on 13 November with Hon’ble MP Shri M. Guru Moorthy and Guest of Honour Shri Parasa Venkata Rathnam. A seminar on Ahilya Bai Holkar was delivered by Dr D. Ramakrishnaiah, alongside student competitions in essay writing and elocution.

From 14-16 November, seminars, folk presentations and classical dance events were held, featuring contributions from Dr M. Reddeppa Reddy, Dr K.V. Chalapathy and other cultural practitioners. A Bharatanatyam performance choreographed by Smt. P. Pushpa was staged at Silparamam.

The closing day on 17 November included drawing competitions, a seminar, prize distribution and participation by Smt. B. Latha and artist Mr Sambolu Harinath. The commemoration concluded with a candlelight rally by girl students displaying artwork dedicated to Ahilya Bai Holkar.
