A two-day programme commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) was organised on 20 and 21 November at Alur Venkatrao Bhavan, Dharwad, by Maria Rural Women and Children Cultural Welfare Seva Sangam in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The programme witnessed participation from students, artists, legal professionals and members of the general public.
The programme began with ceremonial lamp lighting and Ganesh Vandana in the presence of invited guests. The first day featured a range of cultural and educational activities, including folk and group dance performances, essay writing and Rangoli-making competitions for students, classical music presentations, short drama performances and interactive sessions.
On the second day, a thematic drama presentation depicting the formation of the Indian Constitution and the role of Dr B.R. Ambedkar was staged. Sessions conducted by constitutional experts, lawyers and social activists focused on key constitutional provisions, citizens’ rights and civic responsibilities. Bharatanatyam performances and a musical presentation were also organised during the evening.
The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to participants and competition winners. The two-day commemoration effectively integrated cultural expression with constitutional awareness, reinforcing the importance of constitutional values among students and the wider community.
