Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Prakriti Savare Foundation, organised a two-day commemorative programme on 14-15 February 2026 at Maya Goyal Vidya Niketan School, Sangam Vihar, New Delhi, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
The programme witnessed participation from around 150 students, 12 teachers, and nearly 200 parents and community members, supported by a team of anchors to ensure wider outreach and engagement. Cultural segments, including a group rendition of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram,’ formed part of the proceedings.
Key activities at the 2-day program included an interactive debate session and essay writing, involving students, parents, and community members on contemporary issues, thereby encouraging critical thinking and participatory learning inspired by the values of Dr Mookerjee. Additionally, biography-based discussions and documentary screenings were also held to deepen understanding of Dr Mookerjee’s life and vision. Towards the end of the program, a book distribution drive among students was conducted to promote awareness and facilitate a deeper understanding of the ideals and legacy of Dr Mookerjee.
As part of the program, the participating speakers highlighted Dr Mookerjee’s pivotal role in strengthening national unity and his enduring relevance in contemporary governance and civic responsibility.
