A four-day programme commemorating the Birth Centenary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji was organised from 20 to 23 November by Sarvodaya Gramodyog Vikas Sansthan, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The programme commenced with an inaugural ceremony, followed by a series of academic and cultural sessions highlighting Shri Vajpayee Ji’s life, vision and contribution to India’s democratic and cultural ethos. Seminars were organised on his political journey, parliamentary excellence, literary contributions and role in strengthening democratic values. A Kavi Sammelan was also held, featuring poetic recitations inspired by themes of nationalism, governance and social harmony.
To encourage youth participation, student-centric activities including quiz, debate and essay-writing competitions were conducted. A Nukkad Natak depicting Shri Vajpayee Ji’s vision of good governance, transparency and inclusive development was staged as part of the outreach initiatives. A thematic exhibition showcasing photographs, writings and key milestones from his life was also inaugurated during the programme.
An award ceremony was organised to recognise the contributions of students, speakers and cultural participants. The four-day commemoration concluded with a cultural presentation inspired by Shri Vajpayee Ji’s poetry and ideals, followed by closing remarks by invited speakers.
