A three-day commemorative programme marking the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised from 6 to 8 December by Shail Hastkala Vikas Samiti, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The programme was conducted across three venues- Ummed Kiran Special School and Rehabilitation Centre on 6 December, Gandhi Bhawan on 7 December, and Tulsiram Smarak Vidyalaya and Cambridge Public School on 8 December. The events witnessed participation from state-level leaders, journalists, social activists, poets, students and members of the general public.
A range of activities including seminars, Kavi Sammelan, essay writing and drawing competitions were organised to highlight the life, ideals and contributions of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Speakers and poets were honoured with shawls, mementoes and plant saplings in recognition of their participation and contributions.
A prize distribution ceremony was held to felicitate winners of the student competitions. Around 1,100 participants attended the programme over the three days, marking the successful observance of the birth centenary celebrations in Barabanki.
