A three-day commemorative programme was organised from 26 to 28 December 2025 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The programme was organised by Smt. Saroj Devi Gramin Shiksha Jagrukta Sewa Sansthan, Kanpur Nagar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
The commemoration commenced on 26 December with inter-institutional seminars and essay competitions focusing on the life, vision and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. More than 550 students from various educational institutions in Kanpur participated in the academic activities, engaging with themes related to national integration, leadership and public service.
On 27 December, a grand cultural programme was organised at Pramila Auditorium, Motijheel Nagar Nigam, Kanpur. The programme began with ceremonial lamp lighting and floral tributes to Sardar Patel, followed by the felicitation of dignitaries. Speakers highlighted the role of Sardar Patel in India’s freedom movement and his decisive contribution to the integration of the nation. A musical theatrical presentation depicting key phases of Sardar Patel’s life was performed by theatre artist Shri Amit Dixit of Lucknow along with a troupe of 50 artists.
The concluding day, 28 December, featured a continuation of the cultural tribute at Pramila Auditorium. A comprehensive musical-theatrical presentation portraying Sardar Patel’s life journey- from his early years to his role as the architect of national unity- was staged. Dignitaries addressed the gathering and reflected on his enduring legacy in strengthening India’s unity and governance framework. Prizes, certificates and mementoes were distributed to winners of the seminar and essay competitions, as well as to participating artists and performers.
The three-day commemoration witnessed wide participation from students, educators, artists and members of the general public, and successfully contributed to enhancing awareness about the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
