A two-day programme commemorating the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised on 13 and 14 December by Virendra Swaroop Pandey Smriti Sewa Sansthan, Barabanki, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The programme commenced on 13 December at Sunderlal Inter College, Aurela, with ceremonial lamp lighting and floral tributes to Shri Vajpayee in the presence of invited guests. Student-centric activities including essay writing, quiz and speech competitions were organised, witnessing active participation. Winners were awarded certificates and medals. A student rally marked the conclusion of the first day’s activities.
On 14 December, a cultural evening was organised at Mela Ground, Mushkabad Sirauli Gauspur, Barabanki, to pay tribute to Shri Vajpayee. The programme opened with Saraswati Vandana, followed by a poets’ conference where renowned poets recited compositions reflecting Shri Vajpayee’s life, ideals and national vision. Screenings depicting key episodes from his life, a one-act play, and folk song performances formed other highlights of the evening. The cultural programme was organised by Swarohi Musical Group.
The two-day commemoration concluded with wide participation from students, cultural practitioners and community members, reaffirming the enduring legacy and values of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
