A four-day awareness programme titled ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ was organised from 21 to 24 February 2026 at Kuber Dham Guest House in Musanagar, Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. The programme was organised by the Women & Rural Development for Education and Nutrition Society with support from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, as part of the year-long commemoration marking 50 years of the Emergency, launched in June 2025.
The programme featured a range of activities aimed at promoting awareness about the Emergency of 1975, its impact on civil liberties, and its implications for democratic institutions in India. Students, teachers, scholars, and members of the local community from across the Kanpur Dehat region participated in the programme, which focused on strengthening understanding of constitutional values and encouraging civic responsibility.
The four-day programme included thematic activities such as discussions on the Emergency, calligraphy and art competitions, street plays highlighting its impact, exhibitions on fundamental rights, cultural performances, patriotic songs, quizzes on the Constitution, and debates examining the period. The concluding day featured tableaux presentations, a youth awareness rally, and a prize distribution ceremony for participants.
The programme engaged approximately 900 participants over four days and served as a platform to promote awareness of democratic values, informed citizenship, and active community participation.
