A two-day programme commemorating the Birth Centenary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised on 7-8 November at Dulheri village, Bhiwani district, Haryana, by Yuva Swachhata and Jan Seva Samiti in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The programme aimed to familiarise students and youth with Shri Vajpayee’s life, ideals and contributions to public life and nation-building.
On 7 November, the main programme witnessed participation from nearly 5,500 students, teachers and community members. Member of Parliament Shri Dharambir Singh attended as Chief Guest and addressed the gathering, highlighting Shri Vajpayee’s leadership, political journey, literary contributions and national vision. Discussions focused on his role as a statesman, parliamentarian and poet.
The second day, 8 November, saw an attendance of around 6,500 participants. A Kavi Sammelan and Sanskrit presentations by school students were major highlights. Students recited Sanskrit shlokas, patriotic poems and songs, and presented cultural performances. Competitions including drawing, essay writing, debate, speech, quizzes and cultural activities were organised for students of Classes 3 to 10.
A photo and poster exhibition featuring over 470 creative displays on Shri Vajpayee’s life and work was organised as part of the commemoration. More than 450 students participated in various activities over the two days, with certificates and prizes awarded to participants. The programme concluded with an emphasis on constitutional values, national unity and civic responsibility.
