A three-day programme commemorating the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised in New Delhi from 10 to 12 December by Matrix Society for Social Services, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. The programme focused on honouring Shri Vajpayee’s life, leadership, parliamentary legacy, and literary contributions through a combination of academic, cultural, and public outreach activities.

The inaugural programme was held on 10 December at Mavlankar Hall, Constitution Club of India. The event commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting, recitation of Vedic hymns, and floral tributes paid to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee by invited dignitaries and speakers. As part of the inaugural proceedings, a specially crafted statue of Shri Vajpayee was unveiled. A book titled “Rajneeti ke Dhoomketu - Atal Ji”, authored by Dr Rajesh Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer and Director, Matrix Society for Social Services, was also released.

A poets’ conference (Kavi Sammelan) and panel discussion were organised on the inaugural day, highlighting Shri Vajpayee’s literary sensitivity, political thought, parliamentary values, and commitment to peace and democratic governance. The Kavi Sammelan featured noted poets including Shri Gajendra Solanki, Shri Pradeep Tiwari, Shri Rajesh Chetan, Shri Rana Muni Pratap, Shri Deepak Saini, Ms Shamiksha Singh Jadaun, and Ms Sarla Mishra.

The programme continued on 11 December at Mavlankar Hall with a dedicated panel discussion on Shri Vajpayee’s literary works and poetic philosophy. The evening session featured a Bhajan Sandhya by renowned devotional artists Mishra Bandhu, Yamini and Kamini, which added a spiritual dimension to the commemoration.

The concluding day focused on public outreach and youth engagement. Drawing and poetry competitions were organised at Dwarka DDA Ground and Najafgarh, New Delhi, encouraging creative expression among participants. More than 200 children and women participated in these activities, reflecting on Shri Vajpayee’s ideals and values through art and poetry. The three-day centenary programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to participants, marking a meaningful conclusion to the commemoration.
