Ministry of Culture, in Collaboration with Treenetra Foundation, Commemorates Birth Centenary of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Hyderabad

A commemorative programme marking the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised in Hyderabad by Treenetra Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. The programme, titled “Atal Drishti -Viksit Bharat ka Sankalp”, was conducted in two phases on 19 November and 23 November, with a focus on Shri Vajpayee’s vision of governance, nation-building, and democratic values.

The first phase, held on 19 November, comprised an academic programme aimed at engaging scholars and students in structured deliberations on Shri Vajpayee’s political philosophy, leadership, and contribution to India’s development. A National Paper Presentation Programme was organised as part of this phase, which received 55 research papers from across the country. The papers were selected through a blind review process and subsequently compiled into a commemorative publication.

The second phase of the programme was held on 23 November at Sardar Patel Hall, Keshav Memorial College, Hyderabad. The event commenced with ceremonial proceedings, including floral tributes to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the felicitation of invited dignitaries. Former Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, attended the programme as the Chief Guest, along with other distinguished guests.

During the main event, a research book based on the selected papers and a six-minute short film highlighting the life, leadership, and vision of Shri Vajpayee were formally released. A special felicitation ceremony was organised to recognise academic excellence and distinguished contributions. Three awardees were selected under the National Research Awards category and honoured with cash prize, along with certificates, mementoes, and copies of the commemorative publication. Certificates were also awarded to paper presenters, jury members, participants, volunteers, and members of the organising team.

In his keynote address, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu reflected on his long association with Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and highlighted his commitment to consensus-based politics, democratic values, and good governance. The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of Shri Vajpayee’s enduring legacy and its relevance to contemporary nation-building efforts.
