Ministry of Culture, RIDS Conduct Multi-Day Programme in Telangana to Commemorate Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas

Adilabad in Telangana recently commemorated the Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas with an engaging three-day event held from 18th to 20th, February 2026, at the Kempegowda Law College. This event was organised by the Rural Integrated Development Society (RIDS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, as part of a year-long commemoration of the 50 Years of Emergency - a period often described as a dark chapter in India’s democratic journey.

Over the course of the 3-day program, participants, which included students, scholars, professors, social activists, academicians, and the general public, were treated to a variety of enriching activities. A comprehensive seminar unfolded on the first day, featuring insightful discussions and lectures led by prominent legal and academic experts. Attendees received resource materials that facilitated a deeper understanding of constitutional rights and civil liberties. One of the highlight moments was the “Constitutional Library Books Distribution,” which aimed to empower participants with knowledge, allowing them access to crucial texts regarding their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

The event also reflected the vibrant local culture and heritage through several participatory activities. Attendees engaged in the Bathukamma Maha Jatha Festival and lively Jana Jagruthi street plays captivated the audience, effectively bridging the gap between education and entertainment while delivering poignant messages about democratic values.

In total, around 417 participants joined hands to revive the collective memory of Emergency days in 1975. The event not only paid tribute to the brave souls who stood up for civil liberties but also aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and awareness among the youth regarding the importance of protecting democratic principles and upholding the integrity of the Constitution of India.
