The Ministry of Culture’s Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 movement has been officially kicked off on 9 August, bringing citizens together in a nationwide celebration of the National Flag, national pride and the spirit of unity. The campaign will be observed from 9 to 17 August 2026.
The 2026 edition marks five years of Har Ghar Tiranga as the world’s biggest citizens’ movement and carries special significance as it is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the National Song, Vande Mataram. The campaign brings together the Tiranga and Vande Mataram as two enduring expressions of India's national identity, with the National Flag serving as the visual symbol of the nation and Vande Mataram representing its national consciousness.
Across the country, citizens, public representatives and constitutional dignitaries are participating in the campaign with enthusiasm. Tiranga rallies by school children are being organised. The participation of Self Help Groups in making Tirangas has added an important dimension to the initiative, strengthening community participation and helping the spirit of the National Flag reach households and communities across the country.
At the heart of Har Ghar Tiranga remains citizen participation. Citizens have been encouraged to proudly hoist the National Flag at their homes from 9 to 17 August, participate in community celebrations, join mass singing programmes of Vande Mataram and upload their Selfie with Tiranga on the official campaign portal, harghartiranga.com. Exhibitions, cultural programmes and other commemorative activities are also being organised across the country, making Har Ghar Tiranga a shared public celebration and a people's movement.
As part of Har Ghar Tiranga 2026, a special Bike Rally with Members of Parliament will be organised in New Delhi on 12 August 2026. Hon'ble Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan will flag off the rally at 8:00 AM from Bharat Mandapam, Delhi. The rally will proceed towards Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi, carrying the message of national pride, unity and citizen participation.
Another special component is the nationwide series of military and paramilitary band performances, which commenced on 8 August and will continue until 15 August 2026. Bands of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, along with Central Armed Police Forces including SSB, ITBP, BSF, RPF, CRPF, CISF and Assam Rifles, are performing at different locations across the country, creating an atmosphere of patriotism in the run-up to Independence Day.
Extending the spirit of Har Ghar Tiranga beyond India's borders, SURYAPATH TIRANGA has been introduced as a flagship global initiative under Har Ghar Tiranga 2026. Under the initiative, Indian Missions and Posts across the world will ceremonially hoist the National Flag in succession from the east to the west, following the path of the rising sun. As the sun rises across different countries, continents and time zones, the Tiranga will be unfurled successively, creating a unique global relay that symbolises India's unity and growing global presence while celebrating the enduring connection of Indians across the world with their motherland.
The campaign will conclude on 17 August 2026 with a grand musical concert in New Delhi.
Envisioned by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2022 under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Har Ghar Tiranga has evolved from a government initiative into a people's movement featuring tremendous jan-bhagidari, with participation from all sections of society. Citizens are encouraged to join the campaign by hoisting the Tiranga and sharing their Selfie with Tiranga on the official portal, making Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 a collective celebration of national pride and the spirit of Vande Mataram.
