The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is organising a grand national event to commemorate 150 years of India’s National Song, Vande Mataram - a timeless invocation that awakened the spirit of patriotism and unity across the nation.

The commemorative ceremony will be graced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, as the Chief Guest. The occasion marks the formal launch of a year-long nationwide commemoration from 7th November 2025 to 7th November 2026, celebrating 150 years of this iconic composition that inspired India’s freedom movement and continues to evoke national pride and unity.

The event will also witness the august presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture & Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta.

The programme will feature a grand musical presentation titled “Vande Mataram: Naad Ekam, Roopam Anekam,” showcasing the diversity of India’s cultural expressions united by a single national spirit. The concert will feature around 75 distinguished musicians led by internationally acclaimed violin maestro Dr. Mysore Manjunath, representing a confluence of India’s rich classical and folk traditions.

Other highlights include a curated exhibition tracing the 150-year journey of Vande Mataram, a short documentary film on its history, and captivating cultural performances by renowned artists. The ceremony will also include a floral tribute to Bharat Mata and the mass singing of the full version of Vande Mataram - synchronised with similar gatherings across all States, Union Territories, and government institutions at 10:00 AM. To mark the occasion, the Hon’ble Prime Minister will also release a commemorative stamp and coin, celebrating the song’s historical and emotional significance in India’s freedom movement.

In recognition of its enduring legacy, the Union Cabinet, under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, approved the nationwide celebrations on 1st October 2025, followed by the National Implementation Committee’s approval on 24th October 2025 for the year-long commemoration. A dedicated campaign portal - vandemataram150.in, has been launched by the Ministry of Culture, featuring approved branding collaterals, short films, curated exhibitions, and an interactive “Karaoke with Vande Mataram” section that enables citizens to record and upload their own rendition of the song.

The event further extends into a week-long participatory initiative from 7th to 14th November 2025, inviting citizens across the country to sing and share their rendition of Vande Mataram on the campaign website, spreading national fervour through music, emotion, and unity.

This commemoration stands as a tribute to the soul-stirring invocation that continues to echo the ideals of devotion, pride, and love for the Motherland, reaffirming its timeless message of unity in diversity.
