A children’s theatre festival commemorating the legacy of Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised by Ranga Kahale, a Bengaluru-based children’s theatre centre, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, on 6 December at the Dr R. N. Shetty Auditorium, Bengaluru.
The festival commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an inaugural prayer rendered by a children’s choir and addresses by the dignitaries present. The programme featured a wide range of performances by children, including solo and group Bharatanatyam, instrumental presentations, Devaranama singing, folk songs and dances, and instrumental recitals on mrudangam, veena and flute.
Highlights of the festival included a Yakshagana performance, screening of a documentary based on the life of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and a stage play titled “Bommanahalliya Kindari Jogi”, presented by around 60 child artists. The diverse performances reflected cultural richness while engaging young performers in creative expression.
The festival witnessed an attendance of around 1,500 people, including students, parents, teachers and members of the public, marking a successful commemoration of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s legacy through children-led cultural activities.
