In a spiritually significant initiative, the Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata – Peace Beyond Borders was inaugurated today at Jive-Tsal, Leh, by Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, in the presence of Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Shri Kavinder Gupta. The exposition marks 75 years since the revered relics of Gautama Buddha were last brought to the region.

Organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of India, National Museum, New Delhi, and the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh, the 14-day exposition from 1 to 14 May 2026 commemorates the 2569th Vesak Buddha Purnima.

The event provides a rare opportunity for devotees, scholars and visitors to pay homage to the sacred relics and reflect upon the enduring teachings of Lord Buddha.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah highlighted the spiritual significance of the occasion and stated that the exposition would enable people from all walks of life to experience the timeless values of compassion, peace and harmony as taught by Lord Buddha. He also underlined India’s continued commitment to preserving and promoting its rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

Open to all, the exposition reflects the inclusive and universal ethos of India’s civilisational heritage. The event is expected to encourage dialogue, understanding and collective reflection among visitors from across the country and beyond.
