‘Somnath Swabhiman Yatra’ Train Flagged Off from Bhopal by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr Mohan Yadav with Over 1,100 Devotees Onboard

To commemorate one thousand years of India’s unwavering faith and devotion, ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ is being celebrated across the country through a series of cultural and spiritual programs. As part of these celebrations, a train carrying more than 1,100 devotees was flagged off from Bhopal’s Rani Kamlapati Railway Station on May 7, 2026, destined for the Somnath Temple in Gujarat. The train was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr Mohan Yadav. Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Shri Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Hon’ble Culture, Tourism, Religious Trust & Endowment Minister (I/C), Government of Madhya Pradesh among others.

The journey began with traditional rituals, chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev,’ and devotional songs, creating an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and devotion. The Hon’ble Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the pilgrims embarking on this spiritual journey and performed a Kalash Pujan, using holy water collected from 21 rivers in Madhya Pradesh. This sacred water will be offered for Jalabhishek at the Somnath Jyotirlinga, symbolizing the spiritual and cultural connection between the state and one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites.

A group of devotees carrying these sacred kalashes departed from Bhopal for Somnath, while additional pilgrims are expected to join the yatra from Ujjain en route to Gujarat. Together, these pilgrims will proceed toward the Somnath Jyotirlinga shrine.

Several similar yatras are being organized by various states to showcase India’s rich spiritual heritage, civilizational values, and cultural pride as part of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv. The aim is to reinforce the messages of faith, national unity, and cultural consciousness among people and youth across the country.
