Tribal Business Conclave 2025 Held at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka under Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Commemorating 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda

The Tribal Business Conclave 2025 concluded on 12th November 2025 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi, in the presence of Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram, and Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey. The event was jointly organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, as part of Janjatiya Guarav Varsh commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

Addressing the conclave, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal stated that tribal products with export potential will receive comprehensive support through e-commerce platforms, international warehouses, and trade networks. He highlighted initiatives including 3,900 Van Dhan Kendras, PM JANMAN Yojana, and the reduction of Geographical Indication (GI) tag fees from ₹5,000 to ₹1,000 to promote tribal products globally.

Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram emphasised the economic potential of tribal regions in forest-based products, crafts, and natural resources. Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey, in his inaugural remarks, underlined the Government’s focus on empowering tribal entrepreneurs through knowledge, capital, and technology. 

The conclave witnessed the launch of the Gramya Yuva Arth Niti (GYAN) Lab, developed by IIT Bombay’s Ashank Desai School of Public Policy and PRAYOGI Foundation with support from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to design and test innovative models for tribal and rural enterprises. The Tribal Affairs Grand Challenge, launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in association with Startup India and DPIIT, invites startups to develop scalable solutions for tribal communities.

Under the “Roots to Rise” pitching platform, 115 enterprises were shortlisted; 57 received investment interest exceeding ₹10 crore, while 33 attracted attention from venture funds such as IFCI Venture Capital Funds Ltd. and Arora Venture Partners. These startups and enterprises have created around 1,500 direct employment and more than 10,000 indirect employment, cumulatively serving over 20,000 tribal people in various sectors. 

The conclave featured participation from over 250 tribal enterprises, 150 exhibitors, and 100+ startups, showcasing innovations in diverse sectors. Over 60 registrations and 50 positive inquiries were recorded on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for tribal products. Geographical Indication (GI) certificates were distributed to tribal crafts and products from multiple states. The event also featured cultural performances and thematic sessions celebrating India’s tribal heritage under the theme “Tribal Bharat @2047: Sustaining Culture, Scaling Commerce.”
