The Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, attended the intergenerational dialogue programme “Emergency@50” on 10th October 2025. The two-day event, held from 10th to 11th October 2025, is being organised by the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini Sansthan in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, to mark 50 years of the Emergency (1975–1977) under the two-year-long commemoration of Samvidhan Hatya Diwas at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
The programme brought together eminent personalities, scholars, youth representatives, and participants from across the country for an intergenerational exchange on the lessons and legacies of the Emergency period.
During the inaugural session, the Hon’ble Minister addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of safeguarding constitutional values and strengthening democratic institutions. He, along with other dignitaries, also visited an exhibition curated as part of the event, which showcased archival materials, photographs, and narratives from the Emergency era.


Commemoration of Samvidhan Hatya Diwas
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Home Affairs, has formally notified that “Samvidhan Hatya Diwas” will be observed annually on June 25 to mark the imposition of Emergency in 1975. On the 50th anniversary of imposition, Samvidhan Hatya Diwas is being commemorated from 25th June 2024 to 25th June 2026, through a series of programmes and activities across the country.
Two-year-long commemorative activities under this initiative are highlighting the importance of democratic values, constitutional integrity, and civic awareness among citizens.
