Vande Mataram Frames: National Filmmaking Contest to Mark the Special Phase of 150 Years of the National Song

The Ministry of Culture launched ‘Vande Mataram Frames’ on 23rd March 2026, a national filmmaking contest marking the special phase of 150 years of the National Song Vande Mataram, being observed from 23rd to 30th March 2026.

Filmmakers aged 15 and above are invited to submit their entries in the national competition under the following 3 main categories:

  1. Reels: Crafted for digital and social media platforms, this category invites entries of up to 1 minute that deliver a powerful idea, message, or emotion related to the spirit of Vande Mataram through striking visuals, innovative editing, and compelling storytelling. All submissions must adhere to a 9:16 aspect ratio.
  2. AI Film: Films in this category should be based on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for animation, sound design, dubbing, or post-production. The duration of films in this category must not exceed the run time of 3-5 minutes. Submissions must adhere to the 16:9 aspect ratio.
  3. Short Film by Professionals:  This category is open exclusively to professional filmmakers and is intended for more nuanced, layered, and cinematic narratives. With a maximum duration of 15 minutes, participants have the scope to explore complex themes, character development, and high production values.

Themes to Explore:
Entries across all three categories should present narratives centred on people, personalities, places, and events that embodied the spirit of Vande Mataram. Submissions may also draw inspiration from specific incidents, lesser-known facts, or untold stories associated with the National Song, offering fresh and meaningful perspectives.

Participants may enter the competition either individually or as part of a team of up to three members. Three winners from each category will be selected by a national jury, based on merit and creativity. The selected winners will receive national recognition along with exciting rewards.
