The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and Jamia Hamdard University, has inaugurated a week-long Workshop on Digitisation and Conservation of Archival Collections from 13 to 17 October 2025 at Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. The workshop aims to build capacity and promote best practices in preserving India’s invaluable archival heritage through modern digitisation and conservation technologies.
The inaugural session was graced by Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, and Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, and was presided over by Professor (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard. The dignitaries also visited the University Archives to review ongoing digitisation initiatives and interact with experts engaged in archival conservation. This initiative reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to safeguarding the nation’s documentary heritage and promoting innovation in cultural preservation.
