Shri Manoj Rai was born on 28 August 1983 in Sikkim. He received his training in music from Shri Dilip Karmakar and Shri Monojit Mallik. He belongs to the Kasur Patiala gharana.
A holder of PhD in music from Visva-Bharati University, West Bengal and a B high grade artist from the All India Radio, Gangtok in the category of Folk & Modern songs and harmonium. Shri Manoj Rai has published research papers in many reputed journals. He has many recordings to his credit.
Shri Manoj Rai is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2022 for his notable talent in the field of Creative and Experimental Music.
