The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), Lucknow, marking the first major initiative in India to integrate science and culture on a unified platform. The MoU will foster joint research, documentation, conservation, museum development, and public outreach, while also supporting Project Mausam on climate change in maritime history. Areas of collaboration include digitisation, audio-visual archives, exhibitions, training in heritage management, and international awareness programmes to present India’s heritage with both scientific precision and cultural depth.
The occasion also witnessed an orientation programme for IGNCA’s eleven PG Diploma courses, which emphasise experiential learning across fields like Cultural Informatics, Indian Literature, and Conservation. Designed to nurture passion-driven professionals, these programmes provide practical training, connecting learners with experts and living traditions. Highlighting IGNCA’s growing role in education and heritage, Member Secretary Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi urged students to engage actively and become cultural ambassadors of India.
