India participated in the 10th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting held on 26 May 2025 in Brasilia, Brazil. Led by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Indian delegation reaffirmed its commitment to cultural diplomacy, heritage conservation, and people-to-people exchanges. The meeting emphasized collaboration in areas such as museums, libraries, theatre, literature, traditional arts, and dance. A key highlight was India’s support for integrating indigenous knowledge into climate strategies under the Mission LiFE initiative, promoting sustainability rooted in cultural heritage.
During the event, India also held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Brazil, South Africa, and the UAE. The BRICS Culture track continues to strengthen cultural cooperation through alliances like the BRICS Alliance of Museums, Libraries, and Folk Dance. The ministers adopted a joint declaration, recognizing culture as a vital component for sustainable development and calling for enhanced cultural cooperation, inclusive growth, and ethical AI use in the digital cultural space.
