The Lalit Kala Akademi inaugurated the 64th National Exhibition of Art (NEA) on 5th August 2025 at Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi, celebrating India’s rich visual heritage and contemporary artistic expression. The event was graced by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Culture and Lalit Kala Akademi. This year marks a historic milestone as award-winning artworks are available for sale for the first time, directly supporting artists and aligning with the Government’s National Mission on Cultural Mapping. The exhibition showcases 283 artworks selected from over 5,900 submissions, spanning painting, sculpture, installation, graphics, and photography.
The evening also felicitated 20 Lalit Kala Akademi Awardees and honoured veteran artists Shri Krishen Khanna, Shri Ram V. Sutar, and Smt. Ira Chaudhari for their lifetime contributions. Two publications, including the official exhibition catalogue and Printmaker for All Seasons, celebrating Padma Shri Shyam Sharma, were released. The exhibition is open to the public from 6th August to 15th September 2025, offering a unique opportunity to engage with India’s evolving art landscape.
