The Ministry of Culture is set to host the first-ever International Conference on ‘Reclaiming India’s Knowledge Legacy Through Manuscript Heritage’ from 11th to 13th September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Announced on the occasion of Guru Purnima, the conference honours India’s guru–śiṣya tradition and commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic 1893 address. The three-day hybrid event will welcome over 500 delegates, including 75 eminent scholars, and feature thematic sessions on manuscript conservation, digitisation, ethical custodianship, and integration of ancient knowledge systems.
India, home to over 10 million manuscripts, holds a unique position in the preservation of civilizational wisdom. The conference will include exhibitions, live demonstrations, cultural performances, and the launch of initiatives like the Manuscript Research Partner (MRP) programme. A key outcome will be the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on Manuscript Heritage, promoting global collaboration and innovation in manuscript studies. Abstracts can be submitted via https://gbm-moc.in by 10 August 2025.
